My experience when wearing this T-shirt has been that it gets people to shout out "Hello!". They also say hello or wave from across the street. Definitely a long range connector. Try it.
I also noticed a behaviour where people read the t-shirt, look like they are going to say something but then stop. They probably don't want to feel like they are following instructions. It is very noticeable when people back off in their body language.
